Revelation 9 Does the Bible and the book of Revelation hold prophetic warnings to all mankind that are being fulfilled today? Is it simply coincidence that Revelation chapter 9 has some very disturbing parallels of terms, names, locations, numbers and descriptions? One of the prime reasons for prophecy is as a sign for those of us who are oblivious to God’s plan for mankind. These “signs” are designed to cause us to take notice that there may be more to concern ourselves with than just eating and drinking. If we know what the Bible says and we are able to observe events unfolding around us that seem to be uncannily predicted by prophetic writings thousands of years ago, then would we not be wise to dig a little deeper for more information? The term “locusts” was an old Biblical term sometimes used to describe horse mounted Arabic warriors swarming to do battle. They were some of history’s most fearsome warriors and left little in their aftermath, just as locusts left bare the fields after their invasions. The names Abaddon in Hebrew, Apollyon in Greek, and Saddam in Arabic all translate as “the destroyer”. The first two are found in Revelation 9-11, but is it mere coincidence that the leader of the forces we have been at war with is also named “Destroyer? The river Euphrates twists like a serpent through the heart of Iraq and leaves no doubt as to the specific area prophesied about by John in “Revelation” chapter 9. It doesn’t say the four angels of destruction will be released at the Thames or the Jordan, or the Danube, it prophesies, that the four angels who have been bound will be released at the great river Euphrates and will destroy one-third of mankind. The sons and daughters of America fight and sleep on that very ground where a force of unspeakable evil is being released upon mankind like has not seen before. Does not the verses 16-19 appear to describe modern weapons and equipment of warfare as described through the eyes of a man in the first century A.D.? A two hundred million-man army theoretically could be fielded by China (the kings of the east) and the armies of Rosh and Persia (the kings of the north), and Ethiopia (the kings of the south).
Locusts Came Upon the Earth 5 And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. 6 In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them. 7 The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. On their heads were crowns of something like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men. 8 They had hair like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth. 9 And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running into battle. 10 They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men five months. 11 And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon. 12 One woe is past. Behold, still two more woes are coming after these things. Angels Released at the Great River Euphrates
12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
